Q) Why did we buy her ?   

Pedigree: Before the sale: When researching which lots to inspect prior to the sales we look for certain genetic factors that increase the chance of the yearling being a superior athlete. This pedigree had certain ancestor duplications which we are seeking, to give what we consider a balanced blend of speed and endurance. This filly represented that and was rated THE BEST IN THE SALE !

Also, it's a commercial pedigree, which allows the opportunity for the filly to become a extremely valuable breeding prospect should she be a high class racehorse.

Conformation: She is an excellent looking individual with very good conformation. She is athletic, stands over good ground; she has a good length of reign, good angulations to pasterns and shoulders. She has good width of jaw, a deep girth and strong hindquarter, is a terrific walking filly, very purposeful and strong and tracks truly. Importantly she has a good eight inch overstep.

Veterinarian: Our veterinarian inspected the filly prior to purchase and believed her to be a quality individual and an outstanding chance. X-Rays were examined with no abnormal findings noted. After purchase an endoscopic test on the horse's airway was performed and found to have normal function.

Fair Market Value: Considering this superior genetic pedigree, the commercial value of the family for the future breeding, excellent athletic conformation and overall strength, We rated the filly as an "A" purchase. We set a strict ceiling price on this horse and were quite prepared to bid up to our limit to secure her.

I valued the filly at $100,000 ++ (plus 2 bids up to $120,000) (3 - 4 x the 2005 Service Fee of $35,000) and we were prepared to pay our ceiling price. I believe we secured a quality individual at close to a 50% discount and she represented exceptional value.

 EVERY CHAMPION HAS A STORY   

HOW DYNAMIC SYNDICATIONS SECURED THIS FILLY – We purchased her TWICE !!!

AND SAVED $45,000 !!

OFFICIALLY : We purchased the filly at the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast on the 10^th June 2008 as Lot 2233. The knockdown price was $55,000.

HOWEVER : There is significantly more to this story. The filly was originally offered for sale at the Magic Millions Main Yearling Sale on the 27th March 2008 as Lot 754. Dynamic Syndications purchased the filly I the auction ring for $100,000. After our purchase, the filly was scoped at the saleyard and found to have a small 0.2 cm x 0.2 cm sub epiglottic cyst on the wall of the windpipe. Despite its very small size, under clause 18.3 (vi) of conditions of sale should any horse be presented with such a cyst, the sale may be cancelled. We cancelled the sale. The vendor had the cyst removed. The vendor re-offered the horse for sale at the next Magic Million Yearling Sale. Our veterinarian Dr. Tim Roberts was allowed by the vendor to scope the horse pre-sale to be assured that the problem had been rectified. Our veterinarian gave us the all clear. The horse had strengthened and improved in overall condition in the time from 27 March until 10 June. X-Rays were re-examined as supplied in the repository and no changes were noted. Our veterinarian said there is no inherent risk to the horse and believed there was no reason based upon veterinary examination not to purchase the horse again. 

We only paid $55,000 at the second sale and this represented a $45,000 discount on the price paid 10 weeks earlier.

We buy a lot of horses from RAHEEN STUD in Qld. Owner Basil Nolan is a noted horseman. Recent Dynamic Syndications victories with Atomic Force, Tenant’s Tiara and Intagible Asset are examples of the quality horses we buy from Raheen Stud. Basil Nolan was quite distressed at the financial loss from March to June but like all true thoroughbred professionals, he relies upon their horsemanship and integrity. Basil met the market and sold the filly. To help ease his pain, I shouted him a stress relief massage after the sale !

ABOUT AL MAHER (DANEHILL ex SHOW DANCING)

With young stock by Danehill no longer available, buyers are looking to horses such as his son Al Maher as a means of keeping alive the great stallion’s influence. Not overtaxed during his racing career by owners’ Emirates Park Stud, he retired after sustaining a racing injury facing the starter at just his 11^th racetrack visit. 

Al Maher stepped out twice as a juvenile and remained undefeated. And another nine times during his classic year when he developed into a one of the best miler’s of his generation. Al Maher was best suited to firm turf surfaces and won three races during his classic season including the Group I VRC Australian Guineas, a race that appears on Zabeel, Pins and Flying Spur’s resume as well.

The good-looking son of Danehill had a stamp of quality and he immediately appealed to breeders both on conformation as well as being a three-quarter-brother in blood to Redoute's Choice (also by Danehill).

Al Maher is from Show Dancing (Don't Say Halo) a daughter of the influential producer Dancing Show, who is by Nijinsky who was hailed as Northern Dancer’s best racehorse son. Dancing Show is the dam of the proven sires Umatilla and Hurricane Sky and her daughter Shantha's Choice, who in turn is the dam of Redoute's Choice, Platinum Scissors, Sliding Cube, Monsoon Wedding and Superior Sateen.

Al Maher’s great grandam is one of the all time great matriarchs, Best In Show (by Traffic Judge), who has a world-wide legacy through the Group One winners Blush With Pride (by Blushing Groom), winner of the Churchill Downs Kentucky Oaks and Santa Anita Susana Stakes and the dam of the stakes winning Smolensk (by Danzig) and Better Than Honour (by Deputy Minister) who in turn is the dam of two grade one winners, the Belmont Stakes victor, Jazil (by Seeking The Gold) and the history making mare, Rags To Riches (by A P Indy), winner of the Grade I events the Belmont Stakes, Kentucky Oaks, Santa Anita Oaks and Las Virgenes Stakes. 

The group one Saint-Cloud Criterium International Stakes hero, Thewayyouare (by Kingmambo) and his half-sister the four-time group one winning Peeping Fawn (by Danehill) are both out of Maryinsky (by Sadler’s Wells) a daughter of Best In Show.

The Sir Ivor stallion, Gielgud descends from Best In Show as does the Irish Derby, Newmarket 2000 Guineas and Dewhurst Stakes hero, El Gran Senor (by Northern Dancer) and his full brother Try My Best.
