DYNAMIC PERFORMERS
Pillar of Hercules
Pillar of Hercules going out for the Grp 1 McKinnon Stakes
It was with great anticipation that the Pillar made his race track comeback in the Listed Wellington RC Stakes. It in fact got too much for one of the owners who had to leave Caulfield before the race, having come down with an illness. Pillar was warmed up with an easy trial at Cranbourne prior to the event, just to remind him of the fact that he is a race horse. Expectations before the race were for a great showing, but with his grand final not for another 10 weeks, so long as it was not a terrible run, the camp would be happy. Well!! Jumping from barrier 5, jockey Luke Nolen was able to slot him in exactly where we wanted him, in the third pairing from the front. Cruising up to the turn, Pillar had the eventual winner, Turffontein in front of him. Making their runs at the same time, Pillar was flushed four wide and chased the winner right to the line to take second spot. The horse ran sensationally well. We are so excited about his upcoming preparation with races like the Australian Guineas and AJC Derby on his agenda. He is a horse that can jump and take a forward position on the pace in a staying race. The big advantage of this is that he can run home in very good sectionals and it is going to take exceptional horses that can run exceptional sectionals to get around him. Bring on the Autumn.
Cat Burglar
Cat Burglar posting her first career victory at Randwick
Lining up at Randwick over 1300m from a wide barrier with Blake Shinn on board, connections were anxious to avoid the bad luck that had plagued Cat Burglar in her first two career runs. Looking a picture in the yard, she jumped with the field and coasted through her first couple of hundred metres. Assessing the pace, Blake then shook her up and had her head them off rather than being posted four wide. This was the winning move as she was able to settle at her own pace and then surge from the 250m. Never headed again, she went to the line to win by a length. Getting off the horse Blake mentioned that he had another two or three lengths up his sleeve which augers very well for the future. In regards to the future, while she is in the paddock at the minute, will it be some black type racing in Brisbane over Winter or the Sydney Spring? Either way, this filly is a definite for your black book.
Appleholic
Appleholic as a yearling
If there was ever a mare that was crying out for a race with just a smidgin of pace, over a 2000m journey, then this is your mare. Being such a big horse, she has to be allowed to find her feet. Once she does and she settles, she is capable of a withering final burst in the home straight. She has shown this at her last two starts at Randwick and Canterbury. At Randwick she settled at the tail with the eventual winner on her outside. Swap positions and you could make a very reasonable case to say that Appleholic could have won as she was held up getting a run and rattled home into fourth spot for Hugh Bowman. At Canterbury, a farcical pace put paid to her chances. She is nominated for a 1600m race at Newcastle on Saturday and this will be right up her alley with the big roomy straight.
Plan of Attack
Plan of Attack at the pre training yard of Gary Nickson.
Heading to the races for the first time, we knew we had a nice filly but the wet track had us up in the air about her chances. Drawing the inside gate, the instructions were to try and put her into a winning position but if she was not handling the going, then not to knock her around. Upon settling, she found herself third last on the inside, not the place to be on a day when leaders won 6 of the 7 races and the only horses to make up good ground in the straight where out wide on the track. In the straight she was given a couple of educational slaps on the bum and coasted to the line. Getting off the filly, Blake Shinn was delighted with the way she went. She didn't handle the wet track and in the run she also was the recipient of a black eye. Last Saturday, Plan of Attack went around at Newcastle and in a much improved run, raced on the speed and held on to be beaten by 2 lengths. This was a very good effort as we know we are still getting her fit due to the wet tracks. She star gazed down the straight watching the grand stand and the in course results board. Blinkers and back on top of the ground and over 1400m, this filly will be a nice bet at odds.
Alotta Lute
Alotta Lute parading before his first victory
Burdened with a 68 rating after his victory in a $45K maiden on New Year's Day, Alotta Lute was a victim of his own racing style, at his next start at Randwick. On New Year's Day with the small field, he was able to circle the field upon settling. This time in a field of 14, he was as usual, not as quick as the field in getting into full rhythm and he found himself 3 wide, with cover, with horses all around him. To improve from where he was, Glynn Schofield would have had to do a U-Turn and then go 6 and 7 wide. Biding his time with nowhere to go, a split only presented itself at the 300m mark and Alotta Lute flew into fourth position. While not the result that we wanted, it actually gave us food for thought in that we now know what was previously suspected. Allow him time to find his feet and over a distance he will charge home from the top of the straight. Alotta Lute is a definite for the black book over 1600m to 2000m and in fact may be a chance to go to the 1800m at the Magic Millions.
Eight Moons
Eight Moons at Canterbury Park
Despite a 2.5 length 5th on a wet track early in his career, it was not known if Eight Moons really liked the wet or not on race day. He doesn't like a wet track. Starting from an inside barrier, Mitch Beadman had him in the box seat. Upon straightening, just as he was pulling out his whip in his left hand, the jockey on the horse on his outside pulled the whip on his right side, and in the motion to start windmilling, knocked the whip out of Mitch's hand. So not liking the wet and not having a whip, he was left to run to the line under his own steam when his winning chance had evaporated. Beaten only 4 lengths, we are just waiting for a dry track to get on. Saturday saw a dead 5 and Eight Moons really did show that he does not like to get his toes wet. He is going to go for a short break to refresh him mentally and then back in work to get him to the black type level that we believe he has the ability to reach.
Handsome Stash
Handsome Stash as a 2yo at the pre trainers
After 2 aborted attempts due to wet weather, Handsome Stash finally made it back to the races. Even though the track was slow, he had to go around with regards to future plans. With Blake Shinn on board, he was the first out of the barriers and under riding crossed the field. The well backed favourite then crossed after us to take the lead and we found ourselves third on the fence. Under riding as they straightened, Handsome Stash came away from the fence but the wet track is not his go and he boxed on steadily to the line. A dry track and 2000m is what this horse is looking for. He jumps so well that he will always be able to put himself on the pace, which is always an advantage.
Noble Edict
Noble Edict and the winning connections after his first start at Canterbury Park
After a highly anticipated but ultimately doomed Spring campaign due to EI, Noble Edict finally made it back to the races at a low key mid week Kensington meeting. The Spring had lofty aims like the Caulfield Guineas in mind, as at his first and only start, he beat group level performers in Xaardante and Ease. A week after Noble's first start, Golden Slipper winner, Forensics came out over the same course and distance and ran 0.1 second slower time at his first start. Knowing that we needed to run Noble Edict for fitness if we were to have him ready for the 3yo Magic Millions 1400m trophy on March 24th, we just needed him to get around the Kensington track and show us that he was back after such an long enforced break. While we know how good he is, in finishing third, he almost surpassed our expectations. For the rest of this preparation, he is a winning chance in everything that he competes in. As a side note, one of the owners, Bryan, who lives in Perth, has attended both his runs. With the rain that we have had in Sydney he got off the plane on Wednesday morning and called the office asking if the races were still on because if they weren't, there was a flight that he could hop on to go straight back to Perth. That is commitment to the cause.
Grand Cause
Grand Cause winning at Rosehill
Grand Cause resumed at the midweek Kensington meet. Having been Darren Beadman's record breaking ride, if it had not of been for EI, the Group 2 Villiers was going to be his summer target. Winning an early trial but then missing a subsequent trial and some fast work due to the big Sydney wet, he was stepping out over 1100m. Unfortunately the big break was not to his liking and he has been sent back to the paddock where we will start again. We believe that the horse has well above average ability and will now be spelled with spring black type races in mind.
Loving It Again
Loving it Again at Conjola.
The highly promising Loving It Again stepped out at Kembla Grange on Thursday. The Canny Lad gelding raced extremely well in this first prep of 3 starts which included a 2nd, 4th and a 2 length 9th in town at Rosehill. Having matured well over his spell, he had to run on Thursday 14th over 1200m for fitness sake. He had a chequered run in transit and was allowed to coast to the line when it was clear that he was not going to run in the money. With a better run we could have finished much closer. He is a horse that has always impressed his trainer, Bede Murray. As his fitness improves, and he gets over 1400 - 1600m, he will definitely be a winning proposition.
Sightforsoreeyes
Sightforsoreeyes as a yearling
Sightforsoreeyes resumed for new trainer Darren Smith at Cessnock on Monday. Having previously been trained by David Hayes, reports were encouraging about his preparation so far from Darren. Under a very good ride by Darryl McLellan, he was able to cross from a wide barrier and sit one off the fence in the mid field. Rounding the turn, the jockey showed Sightforsoreeyes the whip and he charged at the line to just miss by a half length, finishing in third position. This was very encouraging as even though we knew he was making good progress on the training track, we know that he will be better when he gets over 1600m+, for which he is bred. Definitely a horse for your black book.
UPCOMING HORSES TO FOLLOW
Detention, Priceless Lad, Air Raid, Viscount Express, Superior Instinct, Magnification, Eight Bees and Regal Instinct are all at the trial stage and will be hitting the race track shortly. Honor in War is starting to be finetuned for his return to the track on March 8th in the Apollo Stakes. He is working very well.
NAMED HORSES
In the month of January we had our last three horses of 2007 named. The fillies by General Nediym and Catbird and the colt by Anabaa now have their own monikers.
Fully Focused
Fully Focused - General Nediym / Focusing

Kaulana
Kaulana -Anabaa / Hawaiian Chimes
Kaulana means famous in the native Hawaiian tongue. Black book him because famous is what he will be. Kaulana is currently in pre training before making his way over to Chris Waller's Rosehill stable in a week. The above photo was taken by members of the Maggniffica Syndicate (well, Graham's kids actually).

She is currently in training with Chris Waller after completing her pre training at Warwick Farm and is looking a picture of health as you can see above. This photo was taken last week by John and Mary Syndicate.

SALES WRAP
At the end of January we attended the very successful New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka sale. A record breaking sale, we attended the sale with John Hawkes with the intention of cornering the market in the best athletic colts produced by Savabeel. With Dynamic Syndications having syndicated Savabeel, we knew what a quality race track performer he was.
Dean Watt, John Hawkes, Wayne Hawkes at Karaka 08.
At the end of the premier sale we found ourseleves with three stunning, athletic colts by Savabeel and a Lonhro colt that was described as the most similar colt to Lonhro that the Hawkes stable had seen at a sale.
Lonhro / Al RosoliniSavabeel / About TownSavabeel / Heat StormSavabeel / Nivarda
All 4 colts were purchased by the Tuesday evening, with shares available two days later on the Thursday. Two weeks later, we are now just left with 20% available in the Savabeel / Heat Storm colt. This colt is the colt that most reminded Dean Watt of Savabeel as a yearling out of the entire catalogue. See below in shares available.
Below are our sales movements over the next few months. After each day of sale action, information on the day's purchases will be posted on the Dynamic website. Log on and see how the day has unfolded. If a particular purchase catches your eye, email or call myself and register your initial interest.

OWNERS QUESTIONNAIRE
The John and Mary Syndicate comprise two self confessed racing enthusiasts (I am not allowed to write tragic's which is what they really describe themselves as). Consisting of John Geikie and Mary Williams, they brought their first share in a race horse with Dynamic Syndications, Tomochichi, back in March 07. As you will read towards the bottom of the questionnaire; their interests have grown, just a little.
John and Mary, at Christmas, have one of Sydney's best displays of Christmas lights in the entire city. All visitors to their Christmas lights have the opportunity to donate to the Make-a-Wish Foundation. For Sydneysiders, you may have seen the picture of their dazzling Xmas display in the Daily Telegraph.
By the way, John's hat says Kiss me, I'm Santa and Mary is a naughty elf....
When asked to complete the owner's questionnaire, John got back to me straight away. Mary then waited until John was at work and sent back a different set of answers. Below is the combined effort

DYNAMIC BREEDING
Usually in this section, there are a couple of stories about sires of Dynamic horses. Just thought I might change things around and write about some half brothers and sisters and brood mares of our Dynamic horses.
MULALEE
Mulalee, Mujahid/Zambalee, is the older half sister to our Lucky Owners filly, We're Lucky. At her third start back from a spell, she flew from the back of the field to win eased down by 4 lengths over her favoured distance of 1600m. Saluting at her 5th race start, Mulalee has since earned her connections a cheque every second start from there on in, with 4 wins and 2 seconds. We're Lucky will be back into training very shortly and is blossoming into a very lovely filly.
CUT N' RUN
Cut n' Run is one for your black book. She is the half to Dynamic's Air Raid. Air Raid has to his credit, a 2 length 4th to Mutawaajid and a 2nd in the Magic Millions, 100K Maiden. He is currently a class 1 horse that has impressed in his track work and trials leading up to his resumption in the next couple of weeks. His half, Cut n' Run, a filly by Dash for Cash, has a wrap on her from her stable in Victoria. Keep an eye out for her name in a 2yo race in the next couple of months.
ELUSIVE GIFT
Elusive Gift, a bay filly by Elusive City from Nivarda, is a half to our just completed syndication, the bay colt, Savabeel / Nivarda. Elusive Gift had trialled twice, leading up to her race day debut at Kembla Grange. One trial was a close 3rd to the first Sydney metropolitan winner of the 2007/08 season, Stripper.Up against the twice city placed Coniston Bluebird, Elusive Gift looked to be putting up a mighty fight until the final 100m when the race experience and fitness of Coniston Bluebird just told in the end. While we are watching Elusive Gift in the coming weeks, Savabeel / Nivarda is about to commence his education process.
MATZUMI
Matzumi is the Royal Academy 4yo half to our recently named, Dictatorship (Commands/Damzel's Dream). With 4 wins and another 10 times in the money in 24 starts, he has been racing on the wet tracks in Queensland over the last month. He is incredibly consistent and having watched his runs, just needs a dry track and around 1600m and you can see him saluting the judge in his next couple. Dictatorship has impressed Gerald Ryan in everything he has done so far. If it wasn't for the wet here in Sydney, he would be at the jump out stage and is one for the black book.
PITCH
Pitch is proving herself to be a very nice broodmare. Prospect, Mujahid/Pitch, races in Melbourne and won on Werribee Cup Day last November and then backed that up with a win at Moonee Valley. In Adelaide, Jad Prince is a 3yo gelding by Delago Brom. He has raced 6 times for 1 win. Like, it would seem, most Delago Brom's, he is one that improves over ground and that is definitely the case after Saturday. Watch for Jad Prince over 1600m + once he is nice and race fit. Our Itchy Tiger, Hold the Tiger/Pitch is currently spelling and will be back in work shortly.
AVAILABLE SHARES
ATTENTION: ONLY 20% Remains of this Savabeel colt.
Savabeel / Heat Storm colt
At the Karaka sale, attended by John Hawkes and Dean Watt, the idea was to corner the market in the most athletic looking stock of the 1st season sire, Savabeel. In this colt they certainly have done that as he is the spitting image of his sire, Savabeel. Out of all of the Savabeels inspected, Dean Watt suggested that he is the colt that most resembles his father.
Being bred on the Zabeel / Danzig cross is a head start in itself. This cross is running amazingly at over 25% runners to stakes winners. You are sure to strike oil if you keep drilling where it has been found previously.

DYNAMIC TRAINERS NEWS
John Hawkes celebrated his first Sydney metropolitan winner recently with Dubai to Sydney winning a 2yo race on a Saturday. Mick Price had his 7th Group 1 success when Shinzig (who was supposed to be with another Dynamic trainer in Gerald Ryan) saluted in the Orr Stakes over 1400m. On the weekend at Moonee Valley he put the polish on a feature race double with Sound Journey and Light Fantastic. Bundoran Breeze for Kevin Moses confirmed the hot Bank Robber form with a win on the Kensington track. Chris Waller completed a double at Randwick on the weekend with Bellagio Wynn and Triple Honour duly saluting, ending a frustrating run of seconds.
MONTHLY TRIVIA QUESTION
Congratulations to last month's winner, Kylie Lennon. She answered correctly that the first winner of 2008 at Randwick was Dynamic Syndications' very own, Alotta Lute. Her prize pack is in the mail.
To win the February prize pack, please reply via email with the answer to the following question.
