Volkaspray jumped well and travelled perfectly 3 lengths off the pace. Upon straightening Jimmy Cassidy bided his time and hooked out wide to finish strongly posting an impressive win. The filly has pulled up well and at this stage we are looking at running her on Wednesday 24th March at Kembla Grange in a 1600m 3yo fillies stakes race worth $100,000. I will keep you informed.
Kind Regards,

Dear Owners,
Volkaspray ran a gallant 2nd at Randwick on Saturday, performing well above expectations having had serious doubts about her ability to handle wet tracks and getting back in the field. Upon settling Lenny Beasley rode the horse a treat and saw her come from well back to close quickly on the leader however the winning post came up a little too quick. Her effort on Saturday suggests she would be able to run further and she has pulled up very well after the run. We shall be looking for a race for her in the next couple of weeks and shall keep you informed.
As you may be aware, there is quite a lot of controversy at the moment regarding the state of the track at Randwick. Given the amount of rain that has fallen this week, Dean and Graeme are of the opinion that the track will be very choppy by race 9 and Volkaspray as you know does not handle this kind of going.
A decision will be made tomorrow morning (28/2/04) after track work as to whether Volkaspray will race or not. Please listen to 2KY tomorrow about 7.20am for the Sydney scratchings.
Please be advised that Volkaspray has been nominated in a 3yo fillies race on Saturday (28/2/04) at Randwick over 1300m. I will advise you of further details when they come to hand.
Graeme, Keith and Dean will have a meeting on Monday morning to discuss,
plan, assess and nominate Volkaspray for the coming week. I'm sure I will
have more information for you on Monday afternoon.
Volkaspray has pulled up well from her run and is eating out the feed tin.
Volkaspray ran a magnificent 2nd yesterday and showed to us we have a genuine city class horse. From an outside barrier she jumped and went forward however Lenny Beasley was concerned he would be trapped deep without cover and elected to drop back which he did. However the pace was slow at that stage and she became unbalanced and cluttered up behind a wall of horses approaching the turn. Around the turn she had to hook off the heels to secure a run and then wound up nicely up the running probably doing her best work over the last 50m to hit the line strongly. As I said to a few owners that I had spoken to before the race, we expected her to be competitive and there wasn’t much between our two fillies and this was how the race panned out. She has pulled up well after the run and we believe there are a few nice runs for her over the next few weeks. We will keep you informed.
Please be advised that Volkaspray has been nominated in a 1200m Class 1 at Goulburn on Sunday 15/2/04. Graeme decided to nominate here to see if the field was weaker, however there are 22 nominations. At this stage Volkaspray will run at Warwick Farm.
Please be advised that Volkaspray is in race 2 at 1.25pm on Wednesday 11/2/04 at Warwick Farm. Volkaspray will carry 54kg in a field of 11 runners and Lenny Beasley is the jockey.
Please be advised that Volkaspray has been nominated in a 3yo fillies race over 1300m on Wednesday 11/2/04 on the Kensington track at Randwick. I will advise you of further details when they come to hand.
